Questions for the seminar paper "Open-Endedness is Essential for Artificial Superhuman Intelligence"

1) What is the formal definition of open-endedness? Provide a breif example similar to Figure 1 in the paper but in your own words.
2) What do current foundation models lack in order to be truly open-ended?
3) How can open-endedness be achieved in foundation models from the paper's perspective (4 pathways)? Pick one (or a combination) and explain why it can endow models with open-endedness.
