Brief Bio
Maria Bravo received her Bachelor's degrees in Mathematics and Biomedical Engineering at the Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia in 2016. In 2018, she received her Master's Degree in Biomedical Engineering from the Universidad de los Andes under Prof. Pablo Arbeláez. During her Master's studies, she worked in the field of Computer Vision on three main projects: Video object segmentation, Automatic diabetic retinopathy classification, and Bone age detection via carpogram analysis. Additionally, she worked as Research Assistant while doing her Master's studies. She financed her Master's degree through a project with a research grant from the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft for a German-Colombian Academic Cooperation. In March 2018, she did a research visit to Freiburg University to finish her Master's Thesis in Video Object Segmentation. After completing her Master's in 2018, she did a five-month research internship at KAUST in Saudi Arabia, advised by Prof. Bernard Ghanem. In October 2019 she received a scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service to pursue her PhD in the Computer Vision Group in Freiburg under Prof. Thomas Brox.
